I can take you through the healthcare system in the UK (also known as the National Health Service), discuss the process of applying for a job and the working culture in the UK. You will get a better understanding of life in the UK, including its culture, people and food.

💡Why do you need this?

• Dermatology is the most competitive medical specialty in the UK and across the world. There are limited training numbers each year. It is difficult to get in and there are people who have tried multiple times with little success. In fact, the competition ratio can be as high as 6 applications to 1 training number! I can work with you to maximise your portfolio in order to increase your chances of getting a training number.
• There are limited resources available for people wanting to apply to Dermatology. When I was a junior doctor, I had no one to ask for advice and only managed to get to where I am by making loads of mistakes in the process. I will share my experience by providing advice specific to you in your situation.
• As an IMG, it can be quite daunting to work and live in a foreign country all by yourself. I understand the difficulties of living abroad and I can help to answer any questions you have.

⚙️How it works?

• After booking the coaching session, you will receive a Calendly link to schedule a time for our virtual meet up.
• You will complete a short questionnaire about yourself and areas you want to work on.
• We will have a 60 minute coaching session, catered specifically to your needs.
• If you find the coaching useful and would like to continue meeting up, you can book further sessions with me. This can be spread over several months to give you time to implement the plan we agreed on. The follow-up sessions can be used for us to catch up and work on areas that are still lacking.

I’m Chris, also known as Doctor Chris or theskinmedic on YouTube. I’m a Dermatology trainee currently working in Glasgow in the UK. I got into Dermatology training in my second attempt and managed to score high enough to land myself in my first choice. I am passionate about Dermatology and helping people to get into this specialty. On the side, I write a weekly newsletter where I share my working experiences and little snippets of Dermatology which I find entertaining!

1. I'm interested, when can I sign up and do I need to do any preparation for it?

You can sign up at any point in time, and no, you do not need to prepare for this! You will be given a questionnaire to complete prior to the coaching so that I can tailor my advice specifically to your needs and ensure you get the most out of it. If you would like me to review your portfolio, you will have the opportunity to upload it for me to review beforehand.

2. How and when are the coaching sessions held?

The mock interviews are held virtually through Google Meet for 60 minutes each session. The timings are flexible depending on your schedule and time zone.

3. Is it possible for me to reschedule the date if I can't make it?

Of course you can! You can reschedule the session once but please give me at least 24 hours notice.

4. How far in advance can I book the sessions?

You will have the chance to book a session within the next 4 weeks from the date of booking.
